Long anticipated, The Amberley Cow Hunt is back this weekend and we had a great Saturday hunting cows and eating cakes. My children asked me to take lots of photos of their favourite cows and helped me to create this A to Z guide to Amberley Cow Hunt.
A is for Amberley of course, a village near Stroud in Gloucestershire, now famous for The Amberley Cow Hunt . B is for Bank holiday weekend when the Cow Hunt takes place.
C is for Cow Hunt, Cakes and Common – the essence of this event! C is also for Cowslip and Cowslips, lots of them on the common!
D is for Despicable Moo, Dairy, Dairy Quite Contrary and Dandy Dexter – just some of the wonderfully dressed cows you can find.
E is for Earth Moover cow
F is for Fantastic Family Fun – this is what this event is about!
G and H are for Gardens and Houses – while kids are running around looking for cows you can poke your nose into other people’s gardens and look at someone else’s houses (and there are some wonderful houses on the route!) , or is it just me?
I is for Ice cream van, you will be grateful to find one on a hot day like this!
J is for a Joyful ride on the tree branch and climbing trees. Who needs a fancy playground, this is great old fashioned fun!
K is for “Keep mooving” and other wonderful sings you will see on your way.
L is for Long Horn Silver
M is for Moory Poppins, Miss Moople and Mootilda the moosical. M is also for plenty of MOO jokes, you can’t help but start creating your own!
N is for Sir Isaac Newton, who had the “moo’ treatment too.
O is for Other wonderful cows, they were many more!
P is for Ponies and other activities on the way (face painting, activity toys)
Q is for Quiz sheet. R is for Running on the common, great for burning energy after eating all those cakes!
S is for Sir Loin and Stroud Moos and Journal
T is for Tea Tent – arguably the most popular place on the cow hunt route! U is for Udderly delicious homemade cakes the tea tent is full of.
V is for amazing Views from Amberley. V is also for lovely Vintage china that tea is served in.
W is for Wild garlic, lots of it in Amberley! W is also for Wayne Mooney.
X is for eXciting activity the cow hunt is.
Y is for Yummy cakes and Moo York.
